Alcohol may increase your estradiol levels according to a US based research study involving 259 healthy, premenopausal women.

The study found that every alcoholic drink consumed resulted in higher levels of total and free estradiol, as well as testosterone and luteinizing hormone. In addition, drinking large amounts of alcohol (or binge drinking 4 or more drinks) increased estradiol levels by over 60%.

The researchers observed that:

“…the previous day’s alcohol intake, notably of wine and beer, was significantly associated with elevated total and free estradiol, testosterone, and LH, and binge drinking magnified these effects.”
